Representatives aren’t always aware of what their constituents are concerned about. The best way to make them aware is to contact their office directly. Here are some specific bills and funds positively affecting our trans siblings in New York:
Shield 2.0 Act
The Shield 2.0 Act will provide protection against persecution by other states for New York States protected health activity. This allows New York to become a safe haven for those unfairly charged for life-saving care, such as gender affirming care and abortions.

$52 Million for Gender Affirming Care
While the federal government tries to cut Medicaid, there has never been a more important time to raise protections on life-saving care. New York state democrats are pushing for a $52 Million increase to state-side Medicaid funding for gender-affirming care.
The bill is currently on the senate floor! Please vote to support the bill at:

$15 Million for Runaway Transgender Youth
Allies and community members in our state legislature have started the push for a $15 million fund for runaway and homeless transgender youth. Trans youth have a 120% higher chance of running away, making this a crucial point of support.
